Having retired from corporate life in St. Louis since 2008, I have never been busier. My wife, Sandy, and I love to travel, and travel photography, focusing on landscapes and nature in general is my main passion. Yes, I stray to other photo subjects when I find something that excites me, but I find myself returning to beautiful scenery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I began my photographic journey 54 years ago with a Nikkormat and b&w film. Friends at college taught me how to develop and print in the darkroom, and it was magical watching a subject fade in on photographic paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, I soon turned to color photography using slide film, and almost ten years later, after leaning how to scuba dive, I bought a Nikonos IV underwater camera, followed by a Nikonos V, a 15 mm ultra-wide angle lens, and a strobe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The old Nikonos cameras were manual focus, but I could set my new lens to f8 and virtually everything in the frame would be in focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the the 21st century rolled in, I started moving to the digital world, and went from the Nikon D100 to the D200 and then the D600. To lighten the load while traveling, I moved back to a cropped sensor with the mirrorless Fuji X-T2, and now I am on the Fuji X-T5. Lenses include a prime 16mm f\/1.4, 18-135mm f\/3.5-5.6, 10-24mm f\/4, and a 70-300mm f4-5.6. I also have a 1.4 teleconverter for the 70-300 lens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For software, I have used Lightroom since v1, and I stay on the latest version of Classic. I use Photoshop primarily for resizing up when I occasionally print on aluminum, my favorite medium. Topaz AI is my go-to software for high ISO images that need noise reduction and\/or when I need to sharpen. I have found that my cropped sensor, together with PS can easily create excellent 20″ x 30″ prints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To keep it simple, I use gmail<dot>com, and the first part of my address is bmiller<dot>photo. I am just trying to keep bots from seeing my complete email address, and avoid using CaptCha so you don’t have to click on the pictures with bridges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
