Reelfoot Lake State Park<\/strong>, located in the northwest corner of Tennessee near Tiptonville, is a unique natural area formed by the massive earthquakes that struck the region in 1811 and 1812. They caused the Mississippi River to flow backward and created the shallow Reelfoot Lake. The park spans over 2,000 acres and is renowned for its cypress trees, swamps, fishing, diverse wildlife, and rich birdwatching opportunities. Reelfoot Lake is considered one of the largest winter nesting areas for bald eagles in the United States. Other bird species and migratory waterfowl include the American White Pelican, Sandhill Cranes, the Wood Duck, and other duck species. From the Visitor Center, seasonal guided boat tours offer insights into the local ecology, wildlife, and history of the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
